Highlights of Qianwei Ecological Village
Root Carving Museum and Petrified Wood Museum
The Root Carving Museum is divided into four exhibition areas: Leisure, Natural Landscapes, Animal Shapes, and Cultural Landscapes. It showcases over 160 pieces of art created and collected by the contemporary Chinese root art master, Fan Jinggui, over nearly a decade. Fan Jinggui’s root art adheres to the principles of truth, goodness, and beauty, drawing from the finest traditions of the root art world. He searches for roots in ancient and civilized deep mountains, transforming decay into the miraculous. His works are characterized by a style that reflects: “90% natural talent and 10% sweat,” and “wood without intellect, returning to simplicity.”
Petrified wood, also known as silicified wood, is a plant fossil formed from trees of the Jurassic period through “orogenic movements” and “crustal movements” over millions of years of weathering and geological evolution. These fossils are incredibly fascinating and spectacular. In the museum, visitors can view China’s renowned Four Great Stones: Lingbi Stone, Taihu Stone, Kun Stone, and Ying Stone. These exhibits feature a dazzling array of colors and noble elegance, including charming pet stones, lifelike animal stones, and stones depicting gods, spirits, and immortals, each capturing both form and spirit.
