Shanghai International Circuit

The Shanghai International Circuit covers an area of approximately 5.3 square kilometers and is designed as a continuation and development of traditional Chinese culture and historical heritage. The stylized character “上” (shàng), which resembles a racetrack, embodies the meaning of striving for excellence and seizing opportunities to perform spectacularly. The design integrates innovation with tradition through its shape, color, and materials.

The main architectural features of the circuit include the main grandstand, team pit area, control tower, administrative tower, sky restaurant, and press center. These structures reflect the grandeur and majesty of traditional Chinese culture. The main grandstand is supported by two red pillars and flanked by two towers, inspired by traditional Chinese “gates” and the guardian stone lions on either side. The translucent openings at the top of the grandstand are inspired by Chinese lanterns, with red and yellow colors symbolizing luck and strength. Another iconic building, the team living area, is inspired by Shanghai’s Yuyuan Garden.

The Shanghai International Circuit’s F1 track has a total length of 5,451.24 meters, featuring 7 left turns and 7 right turns, with an average speed of 205 km/h. The longest straight section measures 1,175 meters, located between turns T13 and T14, where the maximum allowed speed is 327 km/h. In narrow turns, drivers must slow down to 87 km/h, creating an intense, thrilling experience unique to motorsport. The track width ranges from 13 to 15 meters, with an average of 14 meters, and widens to a maximum of 20 meters in turns T14/T15.
