Bihai Jinsha (Sunny Beach) – Artificial Water Park in Shanghai

Bihai Jinsha (sunny Beach)

Bihai Jinsha (Sunny Beach, 碧海金沙) is located in the Haiwan Tourist Area of Fengxian District, facing Hangzhou Bay. It is a new water entertainment paradise in Fengxian. The park boasts a water area of approximately 650,000 square meters and a sandy beach area of over 80,000 square meters, making it the largest artificial beach and seaside bathing area in China. It is also the only place in Shanghai with rippling blue waters.

The Bihai Jinsha Water Park is generally divided into three levels from top to bottom. The upper level consists of an artificial green space, extending more than 30 meters outward along the flood prevention wall, and features a coastal greenbelt of about 45,000 square meters. The greenbelt is lush with trees and abundant vegetation, creating a tropical atmosphere. A wooden boardwalk winds between the greenery and the beach, flanked by dense groves of small trees, vibrant flowers, minimalist framed structures, and soft, delicate sand from Hainan, offering a picturesque view.

The middle level is the artificial beach, which naturally extends from the greenbelt to the sea. The exposed beach covers approximately 75,000 square meters, with soft and level golden sand. Hundreds of men and women in colorful swimsuits create a beautiful mosaic.

The lowest level features the blue seawater, stretching about 500 meters from the beach to the enclosed area along the dike, with a water area of approximately 670,000 square meters, forming a large water park. From a distance, the water park offers a view of a clear blue sky with white clouds like silk polishing a jade plate. The horizon is calm and serene, dotted with colorful sails, while closer to the shore, waves continually roll in, with the blue troughs and white crests rising and falling, drawing people into this picturesque and charming landscape.

Visitors can enjoy a wide variety of fun activities at Bihai Jinsha, including water golf, water tricycles, water bicycles, kayaking, water walking balls, beach ATVs, beach go-karts, camping, and barbecues. In the eastern part of the beach, there is a designated kite-flying area where visitors can fly kites. For those who love surfing and jet skiing, the yacht area offers an exciting experience of riding the waves. Small yachts are available for ¥30 per person, offering a tour around the swimming area, while jet skis cost ¥15 per minute.

The most distinctive feature of Bihai Jinsha is its “artificial” nature. The seawater is artificially purified, the sand is manually laid, and even the seabed is artificially constructed. Additionally, an artificial dike has been built to separate the purified “blue sea” from the unpurified “yellow sea.”
